The United States Service Dog Registry (USSDR) is a site that allows service dog handlers to voluntarily register their dogs and receive certified documents as proof of the dog’s status as a Service Dog. Once the registration is completed, handlers are provided access to their own dashboards where they can access their dog’s information, register more service dogs, and buy/repurchase identification, and more. This unique site allows Service Dog Handlers to go above the normal ADA requirements and obtain proof that their animals are 100% service dogs.

While the client supplied us with the design and initial flow of what he wanted and how it wanted it to work, we found that numerous improvements were needed. With so many pieces in play, we redesigned the registration process using smaller blocks that could be reused for the various users and that simplified the process as a whole, making the experience more pleasant for the users.

We expanded on the initial dashboards that were requested, and designed a dashboard where users could create and update their User Profiles, add/edit their service dogs, shop for identification information for their animals, and even invite other service dog handlers to join.

We improved the original shopping process by allowing registered users to shop for unregistered dogs as well as their own, as well as allowing guest users to shop for identification items for already-registered dogs.

Tons of testing and reworking was done to ensure that the mobile experience was going to be just as pleasant as the desktop version, while also adhering to Website Accessibility standards for disabled users.

Though the site is still under development, you can view the progress of it by clicking here.
